Striped bass fishing is rolling along in high gear for anglers fishing inside the three-mile line in state waters, with reports of success on natural baits as well as variety of trolled lures. Anglers targeting linesiders with natural offerings are scoring on keeper fish on live eels, fresh and frozen bunker, mullet and black salties. Live spot is an even better choice for fall rockfish action, earning this little baitfish the nickname “striper candy.” Unfortunately, they’re in extremely short supply this late in the season. Lure fishermen are reporting action while trolling a mix of Mann’s Stretch plugs, Bombers, parachutes and umbrella rigs on inshore shoals and lumps.
