Now that the temperatures have taken a nose dive, it is hard to believe there are anglers still putting together some nice catches of fish. Captain Steve Purul of Real Fantasea Fishing out of Barnegat reports the weather dictates when he fishes and what he fishes for, but he has been pleased with the results when he gets out.

Steve has been catching limit catches of striped bass and blackfish to go along with a few late-season bluefish. One morning last week he had regulars Jay Simmons and Ernie Rosenberg to enjoy a vast bird play with feeding stripers and bluefish all to themselves.
After quickly limiting out on bass to 33 inches and playing catch-and-release a while, they headed out to a wreck where they caught their limits of blackfish to 8 pounds.
