CAPE CHARLES — The Northampton County Chamber of Commerce presents the inaugural Lower Chesapeake Bay Black Drum Classic Fishing Tournament.
Participants will have lines in at 8 p.m. Friday, May 20, and the last weigh-in is at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22. Night fishing will be allowed.
The tournament, previously called the Black Drum World Championship and hosted by the Eastern Shore Chamber in Melfa, will be based from three locations this year: Cape Charles Harbor, Vinings Landing Marina in Norfolk and Back River Outfitters in Hampton.
Proceeds will benefit the Northampton County Chamber, Catchin’ for Kids and the Virginia Child ID Program.
Early registration is $200 per boat (six anglers) and $250 per boat after May 13. Prizes are $3,000, $2,000, $1,000 and a Captain’s Award for the Top 2 fish by weight for $500.
