John Ward, president of boat manufacturer Boston Whaler in Southeast Volusia for the last five years, is stepping down and taking another job within the Brunswick Corp., parent company of the boat manufacturer.
Ward has been name senior vice president of global sales and marketing for the Hatteras and Cabo boats division in North Carolina, a company spokesman said Friday.
Tim Schiek, who had been responsible for a Brunswick unit specializing in fiberglass fishing boats and pontoons, among other things, was named to succeed Ward.
The change was effective Wednesday, said Daniel Kubera, director of media relations and corporate communications.
“This was a good career opportunity for both individuals,” Kubera said, noting both men have been with the firm for more than a decade and have lots of accomplishment between them. “In John’s case, that is a new position so that shows how important he is to that operation,” Kubera said
