SKA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
N.C. teams took two of the top four places in the Open Division and three of the top four places in the Class of 23 Division for boats 23 feet and shorter at the Southern Kingfish Association National Championships held Nov. 5 at Fort Pierce, Fla.
The Reel Thrill / Bone Suckin Sauce had the second-biggest two-fish aggregate of the event and won the Class of 23 aboard a 23-foot Mercury-powered Onslow Bay. The team of captain Vaughn Ford from Youngsville, Kim Ford, junior angler Graeson Ford, Derek Ennis and Ryan Brazill caught fish weighing 37.60 and 21.19 pounds for a total of 68.79 to win a Mercury outboard, $4,000 in cash and other prizes for a total of nearly $26,000.
