Capt. Joe Morris, of Lewes Harbor Marina, reports that the first rockfish of the year hit the docks right on schedule, riding the full moon currents into the bay. Bunker chunkers have found the fish along the edges of the 60-foot slough on the New Jersey side of the bay and Blake’s channel up in the bay. Fresh bunker is really the key for this sort of fishing. Make sure you call ahead to firm up your bait needs before you make the trip down. Reserving it ahead of time as the fishing heats up is not only a good idea — it’s essential!
