The Mid-Atlantic Rockfish Shootout concluded this afternoon and the cold weather wasn’t enough to keep 200-some teams away from the Atlantic coast.
Must have been the chance of big money that kept the anglers warm.
The team on the Gannet 1 captured the top spot in the Artificial Lures-Only Division, weighing in 3 striper that weighed a combined 136.85 pounds. The team pocketed $59,128. Team Rod Bender 1 was second with 131.7 total pounds that was good for $25,916. Team Anna Lynn 1 was third with 127.55 total pounds and went home with $16,818.
Catches by the top four teams in the artificial division averaged more than 40 pounds a fish.
That’s pretty awesome.
Team Max King’s Marine 4 won the Open Division (where anglers could use live or cut bait) with a 3-fish weight of 109.1. The team won $3,809. Second in the division went to Team Matador 3 with 106.1 total pounds good for $2,513. Team Cheap Shot 1 was the big open division winner, however, capturing third with 96.8 total pounds. The team pocketed $7,349 – nearly double that of the winner – because the team paid into higher entry levels.
