Eastern District court records under seal until recently show that area watermen fished out of season using submerged nets for striped bass. They also altered and reused fish tags and sold illegal catches on the black market.
Kenneth Dent, who owns property at 2014 Cherry Hill Road, and Jerry Decatur Jr. and Jerry Decatur, both of Stafford, were served with search warrants in 2007 at the conclusion of a federal investigation conducted over several fishing seasons beginning in 2003.
