Brunswick Corp announced this morning a dramatic "resizing" of its marine operations. The company said in a statement that it plans to reduce its fixed-cost structure by US$300 million, and that it would reduce its boat plants to 17 by the end of 2009, compared to 29 in operation last year. It notified employees today that it is cutting about 1,000 of them from its workforce, with a further 1,700 job cuts "contemplated" as it closes down four more plants.
